B'nai Anusim Institute 

B’nai Anusim Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to the research, documentation, and recounting of the historical fact of the journey of B’nai Anusim and their impact on the settlement and culture of Mexico and the southwestern United States. 

 

The founders and directors of B’nai Anusim Institute are Michael Hendrix and Azucena (Sussy) Mata Gallegos. Michael and Sussy met and married in Saltillo, Mexico, where they lived for several years. They became aware of the story of the journey of B’nai Anusim while living in Saltillo. Saltillo, founded in 1577 by B’nai Anusim settlers, was the first city established in northern Mexico. Bnai Anusim were foremost in the founding and settlement of Saltillo, and their influence can still be witnessed throughout the city today.

Michael and Sussy’s discovery of the story of B’nai Anusim led them to a deeper search into the history of B’nai Anusim. They became convinced that the truth of B’nai Anusim’s impact on the settlement of the Americas was a story that had to be told. The result was the establishment of B’nai Anusim Institute, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the research, documentation, and recounting of the historical fact of the journey of B’nai Anusim and their impact on the settlement and culture of Mexico and the southwestern United States. 

About the
Founders

Michael, a native of Mississippi, met Azucena (Sussy) Mata Gallegos in Saltillo, Mexico, where they married and lived for several years. Sussy was born in Galeana, Nuevo Leon.   Sussy is a descendant of prominent Anusim settlers, such as Alberto del Canto, Juan Navarro, Baltazar Castaño de Sosa, and Diego de Montemayor, who were instrumental in the founding and settlement of Saltillo and Monterrey.
